A Message For The Battleworn

from Road to Calvary by Charles Lee

/

lyrics

Are we waiting for moonlight before we start our advance?
Have we lost, to this dark night, a grip on all of our plans?
We know we've entered a losing fight, the light is gone from our eyes
Place all our hopes on failing legs to carry us 'til we die.

Are we waiting for sunrise to signal the time of our end?
The time for us to pay the price and be burned to ashes right where we stand
And as light covers the skies, my surrounding's revealed, I opened my eyes
And a man bearing my weight turns to me to say

We have already won
This war has come and gone
What are you still running from?
We can lay down our load
Leave the burden we hold
Brother, let's go back home.

“If it's over please tell me why there's still gunshot and mourning.
There's no sign of victory, no cheer for us to hear.
Is what you're telling me a lie?”
But then we made our way through the noise, saw the truth of a world with unspeakable joy.
And I just can't help but say to all who would hear my voice:

We have already won
This war has come and gone
What are you still running from?
We can lay down our load
Leave the burden we hold
Brother, let's go back home.
